The Great Gay Anglican Freakout

The American Episcopal Church has been suspended from the worldwide Anglican Communion over gay marriage -- Episcopalians allow it while Anglicans oppose it. It's rather sad that "opposition to gay rights" is essentially becoming a religious obligation among certain people, but I find Anglican opposition particularly ironic because, as the recently departed Florence King noted (in her book He: An Irreverent Look at the American Male), the Anglican Church only got its start because "Anne Boleyn was a good lay."

In other words: a church that wouldn't exist if not for a king's adultery now opposes certain types of monogamous marriage.
